Visual Impairment

Hi while I am new here, I wondered if anyone else has lived experience of visual impairment?

  1. Hello! I've had this visual impairment since my late teens. It took some time to adjust, but the changes made by such tools as screen readers, magnifiers, and good lighting are really significant. Planning a route even before setting out on a trip and asking for help from friends via apps like Be My Eyes or Seeing AI for daily activities are all among some of the important adjustments made as I went through this. I hope my experiences help you!

    1. , those are great tips, thank you so much for sharing them! The apps can be a game changer for independence! - Warmly, Donna (Team Member)

  2. Yes I was diagnosed with cerebrovascular vision loss due stroke in 2019 but I also have macular degeneration and Charles Bonnet Syndrome

    1. the CV vision loss is partial? That''s a lot. I can no longer see in dim light, and when I am in very bright light it is like having sheer curtains in front of me, very misty, and the floaters are much more noticeable. CBS must make things incredibly challenging. Are the hallucinations clear, or do they appear muted like your regular vision? - Warmly, Donna (Team Member)

  3. Hi , I've always had amblyopia and have recently been diagnosed with age-related macular degeneration. Have you been diagnosed? - Warmly, Donna (Team Member)
