What are your realistic limitations with advocacy as a career?

We all have roadblocks when it comes to the career we want to have. But facing those roadblocks head on can help us to find new avenues to success without having to sacrifice our health, finances or family. Think about these three categories and share how they might impact your career and how you might navigate the challenges they present on your path to advocacy as a full-time career.

Financial Limitations:
* Outside Income
* Resources to Spend
* Decision Makers About Resources

Health Limitations
* Travel
* Standing, Sitting or Walking
* Immune Compromised
* Unpredictable Disability
* Triggers

Family Limitations
* Children at Home
* Spouse or Partner at Home (or not at home!)
* Other Relationships

  1. There can be different levels- as a hospital patient advocate is different than an actual patient advocate, and because of that I'm not sure what some would feel is the best course of action in entering the field.

    1. This was fantastic!!! Lots of things to consider to increase the odds of successful advocacy work

      1. My main limitation is my health: unpredictable, energy-limiting and need to avoid infections so I have to choose virtual only! (and it also means I have to limit how much time I work)
