How do you leverage social media as a Health Leader?

Figuring out your why and your goals is important to creating a successful social media strategy for your advocacy.

What platform do you prefer? (drop your links so we can follow along) And what do you feel like you need more training on, if any?

If you don’t need more training, give a tip to help your fellow advocates!

  1. Instagram seems to be one of the best resources for bringing a cause to a stage with open eyes and ears. I think learning how the algorithm works changes rapidly, so some people adapt or in some cases take longer than usual breaks.

    1. , content creators who understand how the algorithms work are at a distinct advantage as far as getting eyes on their media. It's almost a full-time job in itself as they differ platform to platform, and each platform can change rapidly and often.

I have noticed that each platform seems to draw different types of creators, or that creators offer different content on different platforms, if they are multi-platform. - Warmly, Donna (Tea Member)

    2. I agree...each platform has its own way of going about it. We learn to adjust and keep it moving the best we can. Best!

  2. Hey, Samantha Christie here, my Health Union stuff has been done under pseudonym: Ray Li. I did this for privacy reasons so Health Union wouldn't get harassed by people. (I'm an advocate for other things that upset people, like my 2SLGBTQIA+ community)

My Instagram account is: rayli.rls & my Facebook account is: Ray Li. I also do advocacy work & share my journey (not just health) on my personal accounts: Instagram: SurvivedChaos & my Facebook account is: Samantha Christie

I haven't done video editing stuff since....early 2000's when I was in highschool so I'm very rusty. I've been trying to work with a video editing app on my phone called 'InShot'. My desktop is so old it won't let me download anything on it.

My tip for others: When doing a video/audio (like a podcast) or public speaking event, pretend you are talking to all your friends in your living room. I used to do that when I was a co-host for an online radio show & it really helped me not be as nervous & for it to feel more natural.
