When does health tracking stop helping and start stressing us out?

Lately, I’ve noticed how much pressure constant tracking creates — steps, sleep, heart rate, stress scores.
For many of us, it’s supposed to motivate, but at LifeX we’ve seen how it can do the opposite.
When health becomes a number, rest starts feeling like performance.

I wonder how we can find balance — using data as guidance, not judgment.
Does tracking help you feel more in control, or sometimes more anxious?

  1. This is a really thoughtful topic. Health tracking is useful, but it can become overwhelming when people feel pressured by constant numbers instead of supported by them. I believe the focus should be on mindful tracking and overall mental well-being, not perfection. Some digital health platforms, like Conneqt Health, are moving in a better direction by emphasizing balance, connection, and stress awareness rather than just raw data, which can make a big difference for users.
