Supplemental Terms of Use: Social Health Network & Health Leader Certification Program
Last Updated December 31, 2025 and Effective January 30, 2026
These Supplemental Terms ("Supplemental Terms") apply to and govern your access to and participation in the Site community, programs, courses, promotions, opportunities, and events offered through the Social Health Network (SHN).
As one of Health Union's 50+ communities, the Social Health Network welcomes patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals from all condition areas with the goal of bringing empathy, support, and humanity to healthcare through the power of social health.
These Supplemental Terms do not replace, but are in addition to, the main Health Union Terms of Use and our Health Union Privacy Notice. By accessing or participating in any SHN program, you agree to be bound by the main Terms of Use, our Privacy Notice and these Supplemental Terms. If there is any conflict between the main Health Union Terms of Use or Privacy Notice and the specific provisions within these Supplemental Terms, the provisions of these Supplemental Terms will govern with respect to your participation in the Social Health Network and Certification Program.
The Social Health Network Offerings.
The Social Health Network is a community for patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals with the goal of bringing empathy, support, and humanity to the healthcare industry. The Social Health Network offers free online resources, panels, networking events, and paid opportunities to amplify your voice as a Health Leader. Our offerings include:
General Provisions.
Enrollment Social Health Network.
This section applies specifically to your enrollment and participation in the Social Health Network.
No Guarantee of Opportunity.
While the Social Health Network is designed to provide skills and networking opportunities, participation in any SHN program does not guarantee any form of compensation, employment, partnership opportunities, or other benefits with Health Union or its business partners, and Health Union makes no representations or warranties regarding the value or effectiveness of any SHN program. Any such opportunities will be governed exclusively by separate, written agreements executed between the parties.
User Conduct & SHN Community Participation.
In addition to the "User Conduct" and "Community Participation" sections of the main Health Union Terms of Use and Community Rules, you agree to engage with the SHN community and its programs in a professional and respectful manner, adhering to all applicable professional standards, codes of conduct, and ethical guidelines as may be established and communicated by Health Union from time to time, which shall be incorporated by reference into these Supplemental Terms. This includes all interactions within our courses, at our events, and in any related online forums.
Your participation in SHN events (like the CONNEXION Health Leadership Conference) or award programs is subject to the Supplemental Terms and official rules provided for each specific program. By submitting a nomination or participating in our Social Health Network program, you agree to abide by its Supplemental Terms and official rules, which may be updated from time to time at Health Union's discretion. Health Union reserves the right to modify, suspend, or terminate any awards program at any time, in its sole discretion, with or without notice, and without any liability to participants.
Termination of SHN Access.
We reserve the right to terminate or suspend your access to the SHN Site and any of its programs, at our sole discretion, for any violation of these Supplemental Terms or the main Health Union Terms of Use.
Enrollment Certification Program.
This section applies specifically to your enrollment and participation in the Certification Program.
To enroll in the Certification Program, you must first create a Social Health Network account and an Absorb Software Inc. Learning Management System ("LMS") account. You agree that all information you provide will be accurate and that you will keep it up to date. For more information about the platform, see the section below Third-Party Learning Management System: Absorb.
Conditions of Enrollment.
By creating an account and participating in the Certification Program, you agree to comply with the conditions listed below:
- Participants are required to complete the curriculum within twelve (12) months from the date of enrollment. Failure to complete the curriculum within this timeframe may result in the account being deemed inactive, with access to course materials subject to restriction or termination. Individuals seeking to re-enroll after this period may be required to begin the program anew.
- Health Union reserves the right to deactivate any account and revoke access to the LMS if there is no login activity for a continuous period of six (6) months.
- Upon completion of the entire program, participants will have thirty (30) days to download their certificate and any available resources. After this thirty-day period, accounts will be deactivated in order to allow other users the opportunity to complete the program.
No Guarantee of Opportunity (Program Specific).
Participation in or completion of the Certification Program does not guarantee any form of compensation, employment, or partnership opportunities with Health Union or any of its business partners.
Course Content and Certification.
All materials provided as part of the Certification Program, including but not limited to videos, text, graphics, logos, and other course content, are the exclusive intellectual property of Health Union and/or its licensors. You are granted a limited, non-transferable, non-commercial license to access these materials for your personal educational purposes only during your active enrollment in the Certification Program. You may not reproduce, redistribute, or create derivative works from the course content.
The "Health Union Certified Patient Leader" credential acknowledges your completion of the educational coursework and helps prepare you for participation in Health Union's influencer marketing solutions. This credential may be revoked at Health Union's sole discretion for violations of these terms, misuse of the credential, or any conduct that Health Union determines, in its sole discretion, to be harmful to its business interests or reputation. It does not create an employment, partnership, or agency relationship between you and Health Union, nor does it authorize you to speak on our behalf.
Termination of Certification Program Access.
We reserve the right to terminate or suspend your access to the Certification Program immediately and without prior notice, at our sole discretion, for any violation of these Supplemental Terms or the main Health Union Terms of Use. Upon termination, you must cease using any Certification Program credentials or materials, and Health Union may revoke any certifications previously granted.
Third-Party Learning Platform: Absorb LMS.
To provide our Certification Program, we use a third-party learning management system ("LMS") operated by Absorb Software Inc. ("Absorb"). By enrolling in the Certification Program, you acknowledge and agree that the program is hosted on the Absorb LMS platform. Your interaction with the course materials will be subject to Absorb's own legal and privacy policies, in addition to these Terms. Health Union is not responsible for Absorb's practices or any technical issues, interruptions, data loss, or other problems that may occur through the Absorb platform, and you agree to hold Health Union harmless from any claims arising from such issues.
You acknowledge that you have reviewed and agree to be bound by Absorb's Terms of Use and Privacy Policy, as may be updated from time to time. It is your responsibility to review these policies periodically for any changes.
Your Data and Privacy on the Absorb Platform.
To create your account and manage your progress in the Certification Program, we need to share certain Personal Information with Absorb. This information is limited to relevant data required for program administration, which includes but is not limited to your name, email address, course enrollment, and completion status. Health Union has executed a Data Processing Addendum with Absorb to ensure your information is protected and handled in compliance with applicable privacy laws. Your information may be transferred, stored, and processed in countries where Absorb maintains facilities. Our main Health Union Privacy Notice further governs the processing of this data.
If you wish to remove your participation in the Certification Program and/or have your SHN account and data deleted, please contact us at network@socialhealthnetwork.com. Or, submit your request via the Your Privacy Rights Request Form. When we process your deletion request, it will include the deletion of your Personal Information from our records and our instruction to Absorb to delete your Certification program-related data from their platform. Please note that once we process your deletion request, we cannot recover any of your data or information.
Governing Law for Paid Influencer Engagements.
For the avoidance of doubt, any legal dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to paid influencer services, compensation, deliverables, or termination under a separate written agreement (including any Master Services Agreement or Statement of Work) between you and Health Union shall be governed exclusively by the governing law and venue provisions set forth in that agreement. These Supplemental Terms do not alter or supersede the dispute resolution provisions of any such paid influencer agreement.
