Am I still living with IgA Nephropathy?

This is a question I have been afraid to ask my kidney transplant team. It has almost been a year. My burden is not the same, but some of the feelings I had being on dialysis almost ten years are. The obvious answer feels like it should be no because I have a transplant now and it has not reoccurred or shown any signs of reoccurrence. However, the fact remains I still have the same immune system; I am still living with the uncertainty that that very same immune system may betray me again.

The Social Health Network has given me the space and grace to share my journey. I feel empowered to be able to say some of the quiet parts out loud because someone else needs to hear them - I need to hear myself say them too. I am very fortunate to have found myself among all the amazing patient leaders here.
