Tameka Simmons is a caregiver, patient advocate, and founder of the nonprofit Through Evely’s Eyes. Her advocacy journey began through her daughter Evely’s experience with complex medical needs and rare disease. What started as a mother searching for answers quickly grew into a mission to support other families navigating similar paths.
Through Evely’s Eyes, Tameka works to build community, raise awareness, and provide support for families raising children with rare diseases and medical complexity. She is passionate about ensuring that caregiver and patient voices are included in healthcare conversations and believes lived experience is a powerful form of expertise.
In addition to her advocacy work, Tameka uses storytelling and community engagement to amplify the realities of caregiving and rare disease life. She regularly shares her journey and resources for families through her work and social platforms.
