Emily Chen
A transnational & transracial adoptee, Emily Chen, was diagnosed with endometrial cancer weeks after her 40th birthday. With no biological family history to aid in her health care, she worked with her care team to find the best treatment for her diagnosis.
After a total hysterectomy, her oncologist found that some cancer cells had spread into her pelvic lymph nodes. What followed was 28 cycles of radiation and 6 cycles of chemotherapy to help eradicate any cancer cells in her system.
She is now 2 years out of treatment and in remission. She is an advocate for keeping masks in health care and public spaces. Emily lives in Brooklyn, NY. She can frequently be found at a Broadway show, K-Pop or boy band concert and spending time with her chosen family.
